Ahlia Cement Company

Established in 1961, the National Cement Joint Stock Company saw its inception in Tripoli. With its headquarters now located in Al Khoums, it can be found approximately 120 km outside of Tripoli, to the east of the city.
It began with the establishment of Libya’s first cement factory. Production at the first Khums cement factory commenced in 1968. At the time, it had a design production capacity of 100 000 tons of cement per annum.

Production was stepped up in 1974, with an increased design capacity reaching 330 000 tons of cement per annum. Production expanded with:

Al-Murqub cement factory
The Souk Al-Khamis complex producing cement and building products
The Leptis cement factory
The Zliten cement factory
A gypsum factory
A paper bag factory
